DC VS AC CEILING FANS

There are mainly two types of ceiling fans in Singapore, namely DC and AC ceiling fans. The AC power source connects to AC motors directly. For DC fans, the AC power source, connects to a transformer which converts the power to DC. The effect is that it decreases the amount of power used by only using a direct current instead of the alternating current. To then create the force needed to rotate the motor’s rotor, the DC motor uses a system of magnets of opposing polarity. DC ceiling fans are more efficient and consume less than 70% less energy than their equivalent AC ceiling fans. They are also a lot quieter. The cost of DC fans have gone down significantly over the past year, and a brand new six speed DC ceiling fan with an integrated LED light can be purchased for $180. Installation on concrete ceiling with an existing electrical point costs $40. Ceiling Fan Ceiling Fan
